Scallop Limits Are Coming in Strong

New goal as a guide. Put clients on fish that are bigger than they are!!😂 I'm not sure who was more surprised when he eventually got this WAY over 40" snook close enough to the boat I could see what he actually had on the end of that 15 pound test!! Had a redfish that was almost as big right up to the boat. Unfortunately it proved to be a little too much and wrapped the line around a rock on the last run and escaped anyway. Regardless, I'm going to call this one a win! What an epic and satisfying day on the water!!

Snook and Redfish Smiles!

"Hey cap, can we target some different species today? We catch redfish and trout at home." Challenge accepted. Had to get a little creative on Sunday's trip. We chased snook around the back country to start off then moved to some near shore crab floats and had a blast sight fishing tripletail. From there we moved out a bit more where we caught Spanish mackerel, bluefish, played with some black tip sharks, jacks, mangrove snapper and a few others.

One for the books today! Summer fishing in Weeki Wachee, FL brought us some fantastic action on the flats. I took Skye out for a half-day morning trip with Seize The Bay Fishing Charters, and we couldn't have asked for better conditions. We launched early, hitting the water around sunrise to make the most of our time. The weather was partly cloudy, which gave us some nice breaks from the August heat. Summer Fishing Heats Up in the Grass Flats and Backwaters

July is in full swing in Homosassa, and the fishing is as lively as ever across the flats, creeks, and nearshore waters. Early mornings have been producing solid numbers of redfish and snook, especially on moving tides. These inshore favorites are hugging mangrove edges and oyster bars, and they’re responding well to live shrimp, cut mullet, and topwater plugs just after sunrise.

The grass flats are holding plenty of spotted sea trout, especially in 3 to 5 feet of water with good eelgrass. Anglers drifting the flats with soft plastics and popping cork rigs are finding consistent success, along with the occasional surprise Spanish mackerel or jack crevalle. As the sun rises, switching to deeper edges and sand holes near the flats can keep the bite going.

Scallop season is also in full swing, bringing more traffic to the area—but the fishing hasn’t slowed down. Those willing to work around the crowds are still hooking into black drum and mangrove snapper near docks and rocky structures. Tarpon have thinned out since their peak in June, but a few remain around the river mouths and inshore channels.

Whether you're chasing inshore gamefish or cruising out for scallops, July in Homosassa offers a little something for everyone—just be sure to beat the heat and get on the water early.

Non-stop bites all day long! I had the pleasure of taking William and their crew out on the water for a 6-hour fishing charter with Seize The Bay Fishing Charters in Weeki Wachee, FL. We launched out of the Bayport Park Boat Ramp on a beautiful June morning, with the weather starting off clear and sunny.

With our gear rigged and ready, we worked the inshore waters around Bayport, using a variety of techniques like live bait fishing, bottom fishing, and casting lures. The redfish were really active, and we managed to hook into several nice ones throughout the day. This area is known for its consistent inshore action, and we took full advantage of it.

As the afternoon rolled in, the skies started to cloud over, and we had to keep an eye out for some potential storms moving in. But that didn't slow down the fishing one bit. We kept at it, adjusting our tactics as needed, and finished the trip on a high note, with smiles all around. While we didn't stick any trophy-sized fish, every cast and minute on the water was worth it.

If you're thinking about coming out to Weeki Wachee, FL for a fishing adventure, I'd highly recommend checking out Seize The Bay Fishing Charters. Their 6-hour Fishing Charters are a great way to experience the inshore action, whether you're a seasoned angler or just looking to try your hand at it. Reeling in Redfish, Trout, and Snook: An Exhilarating Inshore Fishing Adventure

What a great afternoon we had out on the water with Scott Robillard for our Half Day Trip (PM) with Seize The Bay Fishing Charters. April in Weeki Wachee is a prime time for inshore fishing, with the Spotted seatrout and Redfish (Red Drum) moving in closer to feed. We had clear conditions throughout the day, perfect for targeting these hard-fighting inshore species.

As soon as we got our lines in the water, the action started. We worked the flats using a mix of jigging and trolling, covering different depths to find the fish. It wasn't long before Scott hooked into a nice Spotted seatrout, putting up a great fight before we got it in the boat. A little while later, he set the hook hard on a solid Redfish that made some powerful runs, but he kept steady pressure and landed it. The bite stayed consistent, and we had a blast working different spots and techniques to dial in on the feeding fish.

The great thing about these inshore trips is the constant action. You never know what's going to smash your bait or lure next - could be a feisty trout, a bruiser redfish, or even something else. A Thrilling Afternoon of Inshore Fishing in Weeki Wachee, FL

What a day we had out on the water in Weeki Wachee, FL! I met up with Emmett and the crew at the Bayport Park Boat Ramp for our 4-Hour PM Fishing Charter, and the conditions were looking great. The skies were clear, and while we had some rain earlier, it had cleared up by the time we hit the water. With April being a prime time for inshore fishing around these parts, I knew we were in for an exciting afternoon.

As we made our way out, I rigged up the rods with a variety of lures and bait, getting everyone ready to target some of the incredible inshore species that call these waters home. We started off by working some deeper channels and structure, mixing up our presentation with jigging, trolling, and heavy and light tackle techniques. It didn't take long before Emmett's rod bent over, and he was into a nice Common Snook! That fish put up a fantastic fight, stripping drag and jumping clear of the water, but Emmett kept his cool and landed it with a big smile. The rest of the crew soon followed suit, each of us hooking into some feisty Snook as we moved around, looking for the most active feeding zones.

By the time the afternoon started to wind down, we'd managed to land a solid handful of those hard-charging Snook, putting on a heck of a show. Even though the rain had cleared out, the overcast skies and calm winds kept things comfortable all day long. Snook Slam Defines an Unforgettable Inshore Outing in Weeki Wachee

Inshore Fishing Thrills in Weeki Wachee, FL

We had a great day out on the water with my buddy Jeff Tant, running a Half Day Trip (AM) down in the Weeki Wachee area. March is a prime time for fishing in these parts, with the Common snook starting to really fire up as the weather warms up. We met up at the launch point in Weeki Wachee early that morning, got our gear ready, and headed out into the clear, calm conditions.

As soon as we hit the water, the fish started biting. We tried a mix of jigging, trolling, and both light and heavy tackle, working different parts of the spring-fed river system to find where the snook were hanging out. It didn't take long before Jeff's rod bent over hard—he set the hook and was into a nice fish. After a solid battle, he landed a healthy Common snook, a great start to the day. We kept at it, boat-side chumming and working different lures and live baits, and the action just kept getting better. Over the course of the morning, we landed a bunch more snook, putting some quality fish in the boat.

The best part was just being out on the water, enjoying the beautiful spring conditions and great company. Even when we weren't hooked up, it was just a pleasure to be out there, taking in the scenery and relishing the peaceful vibe of the river. Between the steady fishing and the chance to chat and share some laughs, it was the perfect way to spend a morning.

We had a great day out on the water today with Matthew Sitarski for our Half Day Trip (PM) with Seize The Bay Fishing Charters. The weather was partly cloudy throughout the day, which made for comfortable fishing conditions.

As we headed out, we started by working some jigging and trolling techniques, and it didn't take long before we started hooking into some nice Spotted Seatrout. The fish were feeding aggressively, and we had a blast getting them topside. We switched things up and tried some heavier tackle, and that's when the real action started. A big Common Snook smashed one of our baits, and the fight was on! That fish put up an incredible battle, stripping drag and making some impressive jumps. After a few tense minutes, we were able to get it in the boat, and everyone was pumped to see such an awesome fish.

The rest of the trip was filled with more quality fish, with the Spotted Seatrout and Snook continuing to keep us busy. We mixed in some light tackle techniques as well, adding a bit of variety to the day. Trip Guidelines

This guided scalloping trip offers a hands-on way to explore Homosassa’s coastal waters: instead of casting a line, you’ll search for scallops in their natural beds. Your captain will lead you to productive areas and show you how to spot and collect them, making the outing approachable for beginners while still enjoyable for more experienced scallopers. Masks, snorkels, and collection bags are provided, so you’ll have the basic gear for the search. Bring snacks to enjoy during the trip, and consider packing an underwater camera to capture your finds. It’s a chance to spend time in the water, learn from a local guide, and take part in the harvest yourself. No scallop sightings or catch are guaranteed.
